West Norway Office in Brussels
The owners of the office are the cities of Bergen and Ålesund together with the municipalities of Austrheim, Eidfjord, Fedje, Fjell, Høyanger, Kvam, Lindås, Sund, Ulvik, Øygarden, the Counties of Hordaland, Møre og Romsdal and Sogn og Fjordane and the NGO The Norwegian Band Federation. The West Norway Office has the following main target groups: Public sector services, Research and Development, Culture and Business and industry. The Board of the limited company owned by the above-mentioned members, is put together to represent all these interests. Out of seven members four are elected among the owners (municipalities / counties) and the remaining three represent together all the target groups (business, R&D, culture). Funding is done as a “pro capita” calculation of NOK 4 (municipalities) / NOK 2 (counties), and there is no invoicing of services. Our objectives are as follows:
to establish and maintain a Western Norway presence in Brussels and provide services and facilities for the region
to promote Western Norway as an interesting partner to other European regions
to keep our partners informed of policy development, new initiatives and funding opportunities of direct relevance to them
to assist our partners and other institutions to participate effectively in EU programmes and initiatives. The office is located in Rue Archimède 17, B-1000 Brussels; in the same premises as The Royal Norwegian Embassy and The Mission of Norway to the European Union.
